So I normally save up my FOTD's and give y'all a bunch at a time...but we're having an event coming up and didn't want it to be text only lol. So here are a few faces from the last couple of days that I hope you will enjoy!!

Nice bright rainbow look. It's funny, none of my clients that day commented but 6 of my co-workers sold my look lol. I think it's a bit bright for most.

Natalie actually saw me the dy I did the rainbow-ish look and begged me to do that to her (this little 4 year old is ADDICTED to MY make-up) so I did, then the day of the recital that's how she wanted it. I actually did a couple of little ones that day with the same look because their moms had asked me to. It was cute (and fun.)

And last but not least, today's look. Only one cause I got a stress related boo boo on my lip that I was totally embarrassed to be seen at work with...:(

SO now for info about the class....
So...many of you know I am now a permanent artist for the MAC Store in Riverside California at the Tyler Mall. People are always asking when our next event is or our next seminar so here is all the info :)

We are having a class this SUNDAY, JULY 26TH 2009
TIME: 12-2pm (we may add a class from 3-5 depending on the response since it's such short notice)
FOCUS: It's going to be "AM to PM" Taking your day look and turning it into a night look, and will also focus on the skin/foundation since natural glowy skin is in.
There are 10 SPOTS PER CLASS.
We were just told Saturday so there are only a few spots left. But they will make a 2nd class if enough people are interested. (A lot of people STILL don't realize we are in the mall--and MAC doesn't advertise :/)
What you need to do if you want to go...Go into the store and buy a $60 gift card. It will be held at the store to reserve your spot and can be spent on anything in the store the day of the seminar. Let them know AMBER told you about it so it will go under my name :)

AND.....

We also have a "level A" event going on for the Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection!! Which means LIVE models, DJ and the whole shebang! It's going to be loads of fun! For this one it's your normal $50 purchase to get your makeup done you just need to call in and make an appointment. Request Amber as your artist and I will do your make-up!! If you don't want me (sad day) just let them know I told you about it :)

it went well. =) I think I definitely have a shot, but I am not going to get my hopes up! If i don't get it, it's no big deal! I actually LOVE where I am now and the people I work with!! I'll just chuck it up to a learning experience should I not get the position. ;)

It was nice though. Perissa told me at the end of my interview that it was a big deal that I was qualified enough to even interview for a MAC store position and that in my short amount of time in San Bern I'd done very well. She said not everyone who posted was qualified enough to interview. She kind of gave me a big head! lol. I think it's a good thing when you leave your interview more confident about yourself than before you went in. =)

I just feel bad for my fellow artist who did not get an interview, because I know they would have been great! It sucks to not be able to prove yourself in person =(

well keep those fingers crossed for me!!

So my interview is tomorrow...I'm SOOOOOOO nervous! I want the position so bad and I know I can do it but I always choke at interviews, my words never come out right and I stutter...A LOT. When she called me today to set up the time she kept praising my numbers and AUS so it made me feel a little better but now my nerves are getting to me. =/

It's going to be really hard to fall asleep tonight.

Cult of Cherry Event and FOTD's!!!

So a few of you have mentioned that you'd love for me to do your make-up...well, if you are in Southern California now is your chance!! ;) I'm freelancing an event at the end of the month for MAC at the San Bernardino Macy's in the Inland Center Mall!!

It will be Friday August 29th thru Sunday August 31st!! If you're going in to buy your CoC items anyway that weekend why not get your make-up done too? Onto the FOTD's

A nice smokey eye I wore to my sisters 7th grade orientation...wish I could have gone out or something afterwards...

I wore this last Friday to the Angels/Yankee Game...Go Angels! We swept! yay! I used MAC original red pigment and pure white pigment for sure...

I'm bored, can you tell? These are from the last five days =) I've been doing nothing but brights lately so today I did a neutral look (no pic's of todays look though...) I feel like I can't do subtle anymore!! I was finished with the look, ready to walk out the door (on my way to see Dark Knight--loved everything except CB's Batman voice bleh!) and I had to add Violet pigment to the bottom lashline! I needed color. I felt really silly. My boyfriend thought I was nuts but commented that he likes it when I use brighter colors. Onto my question...So I know it's not "MAC" but can you guys recommend a good straight iron? I've never been a "hair" girl, I always rolled out of bed combed through my hair and went on my way--I spend way too much time on my make-up to spend a lot of time on my hair =/. Never used a blow dryer, my hair won't hold a curl--so no use for a curling iron. I don't even use hair products =/ Well now that I'm "older" lol, my hair is doing this weird flippy thing and it won't straighten out and I figure I may as well start trying to look presentable, so any help would do =) I'd prefer one that won't frizz my hair out--lol, I've never even used one so forgive me if I sound stupid =P

I didn't get it...again

Oh well.

They finally called me in to interview last week, but it wasn't with the regional person like it should have been. It was with the counter manager and one of the artists, not even an assistant. From the start I knew I didn't get it. They kept using verbage like "Even if it's not a fit now, don't stop trying", "there are so many people interviewing, it's ok if you don't get it this time" , "You're so talented and devoted to the company, there are so many opportunities at this counter, we know you'll get in soon" and my personal favorite "Many of us had to try multiple times before becoming permanent"

It was Alex (the ONLY person at the counter who doesn't like me) who called. He acted like such a jerk too. He acted like he didn't know me (we've worked together a lot) he told me some generic bs in a fake tone. I've been turned down by this company 4 times. 4 times.

Why do I even bother? It's obvious they don't want me. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong or what I can do to land a permanent position. I really feel it's about my personal appearance. I know I can apply make-up on myself and on others, and I make my goals always, I'm great in customer service, the only thing left is my look. I'm overweight. I know that. I'm very insecure about it and have been trying for 5 years to drop the weight. Tried every diet, exercised 5 days a week at the gym with a personal trainer, prescription diet pills. The only thing that has remotely worked was pills from a quack doctor that got way too expensive for me, and I didn't even lose that much weight. The doctor has tested my thyroid many times and has determined the cause of my rapid weight gain (went from 147 to 225 in less than 2 years) was from the depression pills I was on at the time (we lost a little girl we were going to adopt to her druggie dad and I got really depressed) so now I'm pretty much screwed. I can't lose weight. I'm even more depressed so I'll probably gain another 30lbs. I'm so fucking sad right now, and I shouldn't be. I shouldn't have cried. I should be used to this. 4 times Amber 4 times. I want to give up. I want to just quit and find a new love. I won't. I hate feeling like this. Feeling like I'm not good enough, like I never will be. I think I may be done. I don't want to try anymore. I want to let them win. I'm too discouraged to even think about it. I keep telling myself it's ok, it's just not my time. I will get it. But when will I get it? When will it finally be MY time? It's been two years. Two years. I'm so frustrated.

I'm going to watch the rest of season 2 of Lost with Chris and my mom. Maybe that'll take my mind off of it. I doubt it. Hey but on the bright side, at least they called. Last time I waited a MONTH and had to call THEM to find out they didn't want me. Why do I do this to myself? I'm so damn sad.

MAC doesn't want me

I feel so sad/mad/pissed/upset/helpless, you name the depressing word and that's how I feel.

I have been an on-call artist with MAC since August of 07' everything had been going great. I interviewed in December for a full time position in Rancho and didn't get it because "another store REALLY wanted me" ok that's cool. Then the other store never got any positions, and the hiring freeze happened. No big deal. Before the freeze the manager at Rancho assured me I was fine and when another position opened up it'd be mine.

So I found outlast month there were 4 positions opened in the store I wanted, the store I originally applied for. Went in, talked to the manager and she said she'd call me for an interview, although she didn't seem too keen on the idea. I said don't forget about me she laughed and said she wouldn't. Fast forward to today, I messaged a friend who works there and they told me interviews had been going on last week and this week....ok, *scratches head* so I called and of course the manager isn't in :( but I wouldn't have known what to say even if she were there. I am just SO disappointed that I didn't even get an interview. Not even a chance. I have worked a total of 17 hrs in the last month. I need hours. I NEED to work. I have been struggling since the freeze! Not to mention, I hate working my other job and I can't do any other make-up job because it's a conflict of interest. That's what I want to do. Make-up is what I want to do. And I'm GOOD at it! That's what ticks me off. I have been so damn loyal to this company for years and I feel like they hate me.

Is it because I'm fat? Maybe I don't fit the "MAC type". It can't be my numbers because, they SEE me sell like crazy. When I am given a goal I make it ALL the time. In the few time I didn't make my goal, I missed it by a studio fix! I don't know what to do. I am so fucking sad right now. I just want to jump off a bridge.

I haven't posted in awhile and I thought I would update =)

I've been working at Macy*s since this past November and just last week was promoted to the counter manager at Chanel. It's really exciting and fun. We also had our Mari Gras themed Gala a few days ago and I got to do all the face painting for the kids! It was a blast! So here are some pics of me-mostly neutral since I only own MAC and don't really want to bring attention to that...and a few of my siblings from the Gala...

Though I think most of you already know...
I got the counter manager position at Chanel at my Macy*s. Today was my first day as CM and it wasn't so bad =) My schedule is all messed up now but that's ok =) I'm still waiting for MAC, but it doesn't look like we're getting one until August now (but it prolly won't even be there till next year =/) however this new position will look GREAT on my resume (I hope) when they finally do get there. So yup, that's my update. =D

The suburban which Chris was driving went into the shop last Friday, it was supposed to be fixed, last Friday. It's still not fixed. My car. My beautiful car was the car we had to drive since the burb was being repaired. I actually was going to drive my car to work this weekend. My car was involved in a car accident about an hour ago and probably won't be driven for a while. I have absolutely, no mode of transportation. I am sad. But Chris is fine. And that is really all that matters. Now to scrounge up some money to repair my beautiful car.
